Lavrov Says No Putin-Zelensky Meeting Planned
"Putin is ready to meet with Zelensky when the agenda would be ready for a summit, and this agenda is not ready at all," Lavrov told a U.S. news outlet.
Lavrov further noted that Russia had shown a willingness to engage on several points raised by U.S. President Donald Trump during his recent meeting with Putin in Alaska. However, he suggested that Ukraine’s actions had prevented progress in finalizing the meeting's agenda.
On Monday night, Trump announced on Truth Social that he had called Putin to begin organizing a bilateral meeting between Putin and Zelensky, with the meeting's location yet to be determined. Trump also mentioned plans for a subsequent trilateral meeting, involving leaders from the U.S., Russia, and Ukraine.
Lavrov had previously stated that Russia was open to both bilateral and trilateral formats for addressing the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
