US Prepares International Summit on Gaze

(MENAFN) The White House is preparing to convene a high-level meeting of leaders linked to the Gaza “Board of Peace” on Feb. 19, aimed at pushing forward the second stage of the Gaza ceasefire and securing financial commitments for rebuilding the devastated Palestinian enclave, according to reports citing US and diplomatic officials.

One US official described the planned gathering by saying:
“It will be the first Board of Peace meeting and a fundraising conference for Gaza reconstruction,”

According to the same reports, the Trump administration has already begun contacting dozens of governments to extend invitations and coordinate logistical details. The talks are expected to take place at the Institute of Peace in Washington.

A source familiar with the preparations noted that plans are still fluid, saying:
"Nothing has been confirmed yet, but the administration is planning it and has started checking which leaders are able to attend,"

The proposed summit would come just one day after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to meet US President Donald Trump on Feb. 18. Netanyahu has agreed to Trump’s invitation for Israel to participate in the Board of Peace, though he has yet to formally endorse the board’s charter.

Should Netanyahu attend the Feb. 19 gathering, it would represent his first public appearance alongside Arab and Muslim leaders since before the Oct. 7 attack carried out by the Palestinian resistance group Hamas, followed by Israel’s military assault on the Gaza Strip.

Officials caution that planning for the summit remains at an early stage and could still be altered. The White House has declined to provide official comment on the matter.
