Qatar Economic Forum Pushed Back Indefinitely
The event — powered by Bloomberg and hosted annually in the Qatari capital Doha — had been firmly slated for May 12–14, but those dates have now been scrapped. Organizers pledged to reveal a revised schedule and updated agenda at a later stage.
In a press release issued Wednesday, organizers framed the postponement as a commitment to the event's integrity rather than a cancellation. "The Forum will reconvene under conditions that enable strong international participation and a high-quality experience for all," the statement read.
The decision reflects the broader shockwaves rippling through the Gulf region following weeks of escalating conflict. In late February, Iran launched a wave of retaliatory strikes against Gulf states, targeting US-affiliated military installations and commercial interests in response to a joint offensive by Washington and Israel — a campaign whose fallout reached Qatar as well.
With regional stability still far from assured and diplomatic efforts only now gaining traction through a fragile two-week ceasefire, the forum's organizers appear unwilling to risk convening one of the world's most prominent economic summits against such a volatile backdrop.
No alternative dates have been confirmed.
